Animal Justice is a Canadian charity that does litigation, policy work, and traditional advocacy work.
We do not think Animal Justice's work is efficient at helping farm animals. This is partly because they devote significant resources to issues unrelated to factory farming, such as puppy mills.
Litigation can be a great tool for helping animals. However, the only successful Animal Justice lawsuit we could find that relates to farm animals is a 2024 case striking down an Ontario law that restricted people's ability to record footage of factory farms. Additionally, this victory was later overturned.
Based on this, litigation for farm animals seems to be a relatively small part of Animal Justice's overall work.

Spreading messages in an influential manner can be a good way to help animals. However, we think most charities do this inefficiently, and we do not see meaningful evidence that Animal Justice is an exception to this.
